Missed-call text back
Missed-call text back, set up for your business
Missed-call text back is an automatic text sent to anyone whose call you couldn't answer, usually within seconds. Most callers won't leave a voicemail, but many will reply to a text, because replying is easier than calling again. The conversation keeps going while they still have their phone in their hand, instead of them ringing the next business on Google.
We set it all up for you: connected to the number your customers already call, registered for business texting, written in your voice, with different wording after hours and a link to book online. You approve every message before it goes live.

People don't leave messages
A voicemail greeting asks the caller to do work. Many simply hang up and try someone else, and you never find out they called.
Callbacks come too late
By the time someone listens to voicemail at lunch and calls back, the customer has often booked elsewhere or stopped answering unknown numbers.
After hours is invisible
Evening and weekend calls are when people finally have time to sort things out. Without a reply, those calls just disappear. For trades, that's often the emergency job that pays best.
How we set it up
- 1
Connect your number
The text-back is linked to the number on your website and Google listing, so replies come from your business, not a random number. If your main line is a landline, we text-enable it rather than asking you to change numbers.
- 2
Register for business texting
US carriers require business numbers to be registered before they'll deliver texts (called A2P 10DLC). Unregistered numbers get filtered or blocked. We handle the registration, including the privacy and SMS terms it needs.
- 3
Write your messages
We draft opening-hours and after-hours versions in your tone, with your booking link and a simple way to opt out. We also set rules: no second text to the same caller within a day, and no texts to numbers you exclude.
- 4
Route the replies and measure it
Replies land where your team will actually see them, so a real person picks up the conversation fast. Each month you see the numbers that matter: missed calls, replies, and bookings that came from a text, not just how many texts went out.
Example messages
Hi, it's Green Hills Dental. Sorry we missed your call, we're with a patient. Reply here with what you need, or book a time that suits you: book.greenhills.com. Reply STOP to opt out.

Works alongside your existing business line and voicemail. Booking links can point to Google Calendar, Calendly, Square Appointments, Jobber, Housecall Pro or the booking page you already use, and replies can go to a shared inbox or straight to the owner's phone.
no robots, promise
Three missed-call texts, word for word
Good text-backs are short, sound like a person, say why you didn't pick up, and give one easy next step. Here's how that looks for a dental practice, a plumber after hours and a busy auto shop.
During opening hours
Sent seconds after the call rings out.
Hi, it's Green Hills Dental. Sorry we missed your call, we're with a patient. Reply here with what you need, or book a time that suits you: book.greenhills.com. Reply STOP to opt out.
After hours
Gives hours and a way to book, so nobody waits for morning.
Thanks for calling Riverside Plumbing. We're closed until 7am, but you can book a visit now: book.riverside.com. Burst pipe or no heat? Reply URGENT and our on-call tech will ring you back.
Busy shop floor
For trades and garages where nobody can stop to answer.
Hey, this is Mike's Auto. We're under a car right now. Text us your make, model and what's going on and we'll send a quote, or grab a drop-off slot: book.mikesauto.com
Every text goes only to people who just called you, never includes marketing, and tells people how to opt out. It's sent from a number registered for business texting with US carriers (A2P 10DLC), following the FCC's rules on unwanted calls and texts and the CTIA messaging principles carriers enforce.
